Updates from Joy - Randy's sister

Unfortunately, Randy passed away this morning Sunday July 27, 2008. The only salvation is his suffering is over and he is in a better place. We will all miss him dearly. God Bless him. Paul

What a night! What a past few days!
I had lunch with friends yesterday. I can't tell everyone how important getting together is. Everyone wants to help. Being there for me is the biggest gift you can bring. Please do not think otherwise.

More friends came over tonight. We talked, cried and laughed. It was so impromptu, that made it unique. Friends I had not seen in over 10 years were here. It was like we never missed a beat.

I am off to NY tomorrow with my sister. Joy has been all my strength and I would have not been able to deal with this to this point, let alone deal with the unknown future. With that being said,
I know I can, with Joy and all of my friends are at my side.

I promise to update this as we move on. I think this is a great way for me and my friends/family keep in touch. Please post often and check for others.

I have been in NY since Wednesday. Not that I do not miss Atlanta. My family and friends have made the transition so comfortable. I get calls all the time starting tomorrow I will be having visitors. The slots are being taken up fast. First come first serve :)

I feel ok, a little weak. I have been eating, but I do need to eat more, as I lost 5 more lbs. I just had a big chicken calzone!!! Mmmm good!

The way things stand now is for treatment to start this coming Monday. I think it is one week of treatment then one week off. It could be one week of treatment and two weeks off. I have an appointment for an EKG on Thursday and I will find out all the particulars. Look for an update.

Pork Chops, fresh mashed potatoes and asparagus for dinner. My brother in law can cook!!!!

Today was a great day. I have a GREAT lunch with my sister and Tony Conza. I was so comfortable and is really what the doctor ordered. We laughed, ate and talked about old times. The good and the bad. When you look at our old times, there were so many good. We can all be proud of what we accomplished over the last 25 or 30 years.

The better news is I have more friends visiting starting this weekend.
Lindy, I can not wait to see you.

Joe Conza the same. I want a big hug!
Pat, you are always so warm, and that is so infectious!
Kitty, I just want to see your smile!
Bruce, you are crazy!! I just love you!!!!

Mary, I am so happy you are going to visit with Bruce. We all had so much fun at my apartment. I love you also.

Tomorrow I get my EKG, that should give me the go ahead for treatment starting Monday. Time to start healing!

I love you all!!

One of my good friends in Atlanta had prostate surgery today. He is fine and the surgery was a success. He is recovering now. This is so huge! Stan and Terry Dorsey are two of the most generous people I have ever met. They hsvr always open there house to me my family or friends. Stan is a cook and both he and Terry love wine. Put a cook and a wine enthusiasts together. What do you get? Lots of fun evenings.
I can't wait for the next one! I know they have a great bottle waiting on us. I promise you, I will be there.

Love you guys!

I am sorry I could not be one of those friends being there for lunch as my car accident has left me with extensive injuries and no car since it was paid off and not fully covered and no medical coverage since the building market had crashed.

From what I can understand about BLOGS is they give you an update but why has the last one been so far back as May 30th. Please don't slip away or have Bruce call me as I feel Addrienne has more chats with you than I. Please, Joy, update the BLOG as I know you are Randy's strength right now and I am at tears end to know what is going on but do not want to tire Randy in any way.

I am glad you have been around friends Randy as they have always been important to you. I am able to see you in NY if you need ANYTHING....I MEAN ANYTHING. But you must be honest, as you are killing me. I cherrish friendship because I do not have a big family , only my mother. I am sensative for you and Milo. You just ask. I don't have much money but do have all the time in the world to dedicate to you to wait on you hand and foot if need be with all due respect to your girlfriend also. I don't even mind waiting on her so you have the upmost quality time with her. I can tell she is very special to you and good for you!!!!I know you are such a kind hearted person, if I found the love of my life, you would do the same for me, I know you would.

But this is about you and now her, my best blessings!! I would love to be there for you and do very much respect and celebrate the special lady in your life. Congratulations to both of you. Me in my situation with my back, having not much together and 3 Bichions I would do anything for you to lift that cancer off of you and on to me, and I mean that!! You have always been kind, very successful, smart and just a joy as a friend to me and also with Milo and the introduction to Bruce, as I am sure he is by your side.

Please I pray someone call, email, blog, and ask Joy to get you the book called The Secret, as it will turn your life around. I have never been in that sort of stuff but it has helped me greatly. Please also give me a NY mailing adress and I will send both the book and movie to you. Crystal

It has been way too long since I posted a comment here.

Monday, I had my second treatment. So far, no harsh side effects other than some weakness. Let's hope it stays like this.

I still love to get calls and read posts to the site. Don't stop! I love hearing from all of you and look forward to it.

I am going to have some visitors tomorrow. Aaron and Alice Broder. They are old friends from my childhood. I can not wait to see them. They still practice law at a very high level, they just amaze me.

The following week, John Kramer is going to visit. Look forward to his visit also.

Just so every one knows, I feel ok, I am eating and drinking water and getting stronger.

Randy, you are so awesome! I've only hung out with you three or four times but you made an indelible impression on me. A gentleman who drove 35 miles to pick me up on our first date!!!!! A fun guy who loves fine, eclectic dining, with an array of colorful friends and exquisite taste in furnishings. I so enjoyed that day tanning and enjoying your pool...You are full of laughter and warmth. I know you are strong and you will get through this. I went through breast cancer a few years back and came through the other side. So will you. Stay positive. My prayers are with you! Much love and best wishes! Florencia

I am writing this blog on behalf of Randy and his family. I thought everyone should know that Randy was checked into the hospital last night and they are running tests on him. While his vital signs are good, he is unrepsonsive and has not spoken in two days. They are sending a neurologist this evening to see what the cause could be. It could be liquid draining from his tumors in the brain or it could have come from seizures or from a stroke. Randy as you all know is very sick and they are trying to make him as comfortable as possible. He is no longer able to walk at the moment as his legs are swollen and he can't seem to move very well. I wish I had better news to report. I am flying Friday morning and most likely, Randy will still be at the hospital until further decisions are made. Joy and Dennis are the best and doing everything they can to make Randy comfortable. This week really took a turn and I will log back on to Randy's site when I have further information. Thank you on behalf of Randy and his family for your thoughts and prayers. Continue to send them!

Hi, It is Lindy again. Randy is finally home from the hospital today. He is now taking anti-seizure medicine in addition to his other meds. Joy has arranged for Home health care and they delivered the hospital bed and other supplies so that Randy can be comfortable at home. Joy is going to give him the "hungry" medication so that we can get his appetite up again. He is very tired, but so happy to be home at Joy's house again. Joy will now have help coming in daily to assist in the care of Randy. I had a nice visit with Rand on Friday, but he was still a little confused, but now he is aware of what is going on again, so call and keep writing to him. He so appreciates it.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Just wanted you to know things are getting better on my end. Stay strong as I know you will. How is Milo?

How is Randy's most recent progress from yesterday? Please give us an update. Joy, it is amazing to me what a wonderful sister you are, I only wish I will have her strength if my brother ever goes through a challenge like this. Randy does have so many friends and as you say Joy, one nicer than the next. Randy has only gotten the friends he has from being a true friend himself. I will be sending some pictures to add to his picture diary, but would also like a physical address if I do print them out and send them that way. I agree though this is a devastating time for you, how special you must feel to be his sister and the love you show him is so wonderful!
